Today, when TISM announced their Australian tour and release of their forthcoming album, Death To Art, that exciting news may have understandably led some fans to miss another essential bit of news: Machine Gun Fellatio have reformed and will join their mates on the forthcoming tour.
Formed in 1997, Machine Gun Fellatio formed a reputation for being a band with provocative on-stage antics and lyrics, but with the songs to back them, no matter how controversial their band name and song titles like Pussytown, Mutha Fukka On A Motorcycle, and Dirty F#!@ing Whore were.
In addition to performing to packed venues in Australia and surviving two Big Day Out tours, Machine Gun Fellatio also made it internationally and were invited to tour alongside KISS, Robbie Williams, Primus, and Duran Duran.
From 1997 to 2004, the band released three albums before disbanding in 2005. They dropped their platinum-certified debut album, Bring It On!, in September 2000, followed by the double platinum-certified LP, Paging Mr. Strike, in August 2002. Their final album, On Ice, was released in October 2004 and went gold. All three records were released via Mushroom/Sputnik.
Disbanding due to burnout, drug use, and creative differences (per Double J), it’s likely that fans never saw today’s news coming.
This October and November, Machine Gun Fellatio will play their first shows in 19 years, opening for TISM on their epic Death To Art tour.
