"Showgirl life is ‘a thing’, multi dimensional and so much more than feathers and dazzle," Minogue wrote on social media.

As Taylor Swift launches her Life Of A Showgirl era, some fans have expressed concern that the pop icon is lifting directly from the playbook of Australia’s own pop princess, Kylie Minogue.
Last week saw Swift announce the release of her forthcoming 12th album, The Life Of A Showgirl. Undoubtedly set to be one of the biggest music stories of the year, Swift’s news quickly drew comparisons between Minogue’s own 2005 tour.
Initially launched in March 2005, Showgirl: The Greatest Hits Tour, was a planned global tour for the Aussie icon which would have toured Europe, Australia, and Asia, before wrapping up with a headline appearance at England's Glastonbury Festival.
Named as an homage to female performers from theatrical revues and Minogue’s own theatrical flair, the trek was ultimately cut short after Minogue was diagnosed with breast cancer and began treatment.
The following year, Minogue returned to the stage, performing multiple dates across Australia and England as part of the critically-acclaimed Showgirl: Homecoming Tour.
Understandably, the term ‘Showgirl’ has been heavily associated with Minogue in the years since (taking the heat away from Paul Verhoeven’s widely-panned 1995 film Showgirls), leading to Minogue responding to the comparisons made to Swift’s new record over the past week.

“When all your friends start sending you your Showgirl mems!!! 😳🥺🙃 Awww,” Minogue wrote on Instagram late last week alongside images of her Showgirl era.
“Showgirl life is ‘a thing’, multi dimensional and so much more than feathers and dazzle,” she added. “💖, respect and admiration to all my fellow hard working Showgirls 😘”
Swift is set to release The Life Of A Showgirl on October 3rd, with the 12-track record undoubtedly set to be one of the most-anticipated albums of the year.
No singles from the Max Martin and Shellback-produced album have been released or announced as yet, with the closing title track set to feature a high-profile collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter. No word yet if Minogue will get a call-up for a future collab.
