Knotfest has hosted three successful events in Australia so far, but in 2026, the festival will take a year off. However, organisers have already eased punters’ concerns, confirming it will return in 2027.

The festival and promoters Destroy All Lines and TEG made the announcement on social media last night (17 September).

“After three incredible years—made unforgettable by the fans and the artists that shared the stage across each line-up—we’ll be taking a short break in 2026,” the statement reads. “This time off will allow us to come back in 2027 with the best Knotfest Australia yet.

“Thank you for your passion, patience, and loyalty. We can’t wait to share what’s next and to make 2027 a truly unmissable experience.”

Knotfest made its debut in Australia in March 2023, with its namesake band, Slipknot, headlining the festival. They were joined by huge names within the heavy music stratosphere, including Parkway Drive, Megadeth, Trivium, Spiritbox, Knocked Loose, and many others.

Making its return in 2024, Slipknot weren’t on deck to headline, with festival organisers still locking in some big names, Pantera and Disturbed. Elsewhere, Knotfest 2024 included Lamb Of God, Halestorm, The Hu, Thy Art Is Murder, SPEED, and more.

This year, Slipknot returned, along with A Day To Remember, Polaris, BABYMETAL, Slaughter To Prevail, Within Temptation, and more.

Knotfest is known for its massive line-ups, Slipknot Museum, and unique clash-free set-up with just two stages situated side-by-side, so fans don’t have to run around and miss out on any bands they want to see.

Reviewing Slipknot’s performance at the 2023 festival, The Music’s Tim Price wrote, “This show demonstrated exactly why this band has longevity and can have a festival in their name. This is a band that inspires. From the fans right through to the other bands chosen for this line-up - they are the goal, the milestone, and the ones to match.

“The setlist, while incredible, was almost irrelevant, as the band could have been playing anything on the stage, and they would have the crowd eating it up.”

Price concluded, “Knotfest Australia was a RESOUNDING success, all things told. Let’s go for the next one, bring it on!”
