'Everything Fell Off': The Struggles That Birthed Telenova's New Album, 'The Warning'

Kill Your Stereo Relaunches Following Sale; New Editor Appointed

"He agreed to sell the site and its stories and history so that we could preserve it and continue its over 15-year legacy.”

Today, Kill Your Stereo returns.

The website, which focuses on heavy music from all around the world and a wide variety of genres, has been purchased by Collision Course.

At the end of last year, previous Kill Your Stereo owner/editor Alex Sievers decided with a bag of mixed emotions to put the site into hiatus, with a view to shutting it down.

He stated that “[Kill Your Stereo] was a big part of my life for five years... I met some rad people, did a lot of cool shit and wrote a lot of things that I'm very proud of. I still love music, writing and writing about music. I love doing this but I can't keep doing this. At least not right now in this current manner."

Kill Your Stereo has a reputation for telling it how it is and no-holds-barred commentary and review – and with that comes an integrity rivalled by very few and a writing style that always manages to bring out the truth in the artists’ stories – the site is renowned for fantastic, engaging (sometimes sarcastic and parody) interviews and coming at things from different perspectives.

That integrity, fandom for new heavy music and being able to bring artists’ voices and perspectives to the world will continue at Kill Your Stereo, with the appointment of Lili Jean Berry as the Editor and Community Manager of the site, which will also incorporate The Faction, which will now become the heavy music fan community and continue as a radio station.

Berry previously worked as the Account Manager for Artists at Super Special Merchandise – and worked with over 170 artists across 9 different webstores, worked on 5 ARIA #1 campaigns and 20 Top 10s and launched exclusive stores for 3 international record labels. The passionate heavy music lover was the incredibly obvious choice to engage, interact and lead the Kill Your Stereo and The Faction communities.

“I’ve been a reader of Kill Your Stereo for years!” Lili Jean Berry said.

“I love heavy music and can't wait to talk about it with you all every day. I believe we have an insanely bright future ahead of us and I'm genuinely stoked to be a part of this next chapter.

“It is my goal to give the artists a platform to give more insight about their art, and elevate their voices. I want fans and readers to look to us for all their burning questions and give the content they want to hear. Essentially creating a bridge between both sides and celebrating our community for what it is!”

Content will be shared between the two sites/platforms and more integrations and streamlining of the two platforms will take place in future months.

Collision Course/The Faction director Tim Price – a long-time fan of Kill Your Stereo - even outside of working directly with Alex to pitch stories and content for Kill Your Stereo in his capacity as a publicist – did not want to see the site’s rich history and massive amount of content disappear into the ether.

Price said that “Alex messaged me directly to let me know he was going to nuke the site. I asked him to pause for a minute so that we could get a plan together to purchase the site – and he agreed to sell the site and its stories and history so that we could preserve it and continue its over 15-year legacy.”

Kill Your Stereo will now take its place among the suite of entirely music-focused websites at SGC Media – alongside TheMusic.com.au, Purple Sneakers, Countrytown and The Faction Radio.

Kill Your Stereo re-launches today ahead of The Faction’s Hardest 100 on Saturday, which will happen LIVE on The Faction Radio from 12pm AEDT around the country, alongside listening parties and afterparties in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, supported by Amazon Music.
