Little Birdy singer Katy Steele has addressed fans’ concerns after she fell off stage at WA Day Festival over the weekend.

Revealing that she suffered two broken ribs, Steele informed punters that she was out of the emergency room and resting in good hands.

The band performed during the last day of this year’s WA Day Festival yesterday (23 November) and, according to fan reports, Steele fell off the stage during the first song but returned and continued to perform.

“Little Birdy sounding great as usual,” wrote the Western Australian band Red Temples on social media. They added, “Thankfully Katy Steele is ok after falling off the stage first song!! Came back on. Classic rock star move, well played Katy.”

On the Perth subreddit, punters also discussed the fall, with a user writing that they arrived two minutes late and were trying to understand “wtf happened.”

“I missed it too, but it was pretty clear she'd been hurt and managed to get through the set regardless,” another punter wrote. “Hope she's alright after some medical attention.”

A third user added, “Impressive to see footage of her performance after the fall. She is still singing and playing great.”

Steele has since addressed the fall on social media. The post reads:

An update for those that have been concerned for Katy's health after her fall at WA Day Festival - She's out of emergency with four broken ribs and now resting - in good hands. Thanks to all that have checked in.

Upon returning to the stage, Steele praised events such as WA Day and their contributions to the community.

“Music is everything, you know, music is life,” she said (per The West Australian). “These types of events, they help the artist and they help the community to be a more vibrant place, which we all want.”

Earlier this year, Little Birdy reunited to celebrate the 21st anniversary of their album, BigBigLove. They commemorated the anniversary with a massive tour across the country.

“These songs still feel just as real as they did when we first wrote them,” Katy Steele said back in March. “Revisiting them as a band has been such a unique and healing experience. I can’t wait to see our old fans down the front, singing along again—just like we did all those years ago.”
