KarnivoolWith just a week to go until Karnivool release their first new album in twelve years, the Perth progressive rockers have organised some special events for their fans.
Along with the release of the stunning new single Animation, which you can check out below, Karnivool have announced a string of acoustic launch parties to celebrate their forthcoming album, In Verses, which lands next Friday (6 February).
The launch parties will take place in four Australian cities next month. The fun begins at Crowbar Sydney on Monday, 9 February, followed by Crowbar Brisbane on Tuesday, 10 February, Melbourne’s The Espy Gershwin Room on Wednesday, 11 February, and concludes at the band’s home city of Perth at the Rosemount Hotel on Monday, 16 February.
Karnivool are set to perform short acoustic sets of new and classic songs at the launch events. Plus, fans will get to chat with the band, get their records signed, and check out some exclusive merchandise. The band have never hosted events like these in Australia, and they last performed acoustically 14 years ago in Mumbai.
Tickets to these rare launch parties will be available on Wednesday, 28 January, via Karnivool’s website, and they’re not expected to last long.

Meanwhile, fans have gotten another taste of In Verses with the release of Animation. Opening with a harp and gradually blooming into a rhythmic, groovy number, it’s a completely unique song in the band’s discography.
“Animation leans into new space found within the rhythm section,” the band explained. “It holds the pulse of In Verses—tight, detailed, tense. It reflects the frustration, the renewal, and the search for light that runs through the record, all while staying true to our sound.”
In Verses is the long-awaited follow-up to 2013’s Asymmetry. Once again joining forces with longtime producer Forrester Savell, the record marks the culmination of the band's last decade of life experiences. You can pre-order/pre-save In Verses here.
Last June, Karnivool shared the single Drone, their first new song in four years. At the time, they commented that Drone was only the beginning and had been lifted from an upcoming “larger body of work.” The album was later announced, followed by the single Opal, a track that repurposes a riff from the Themata days.
The release of Drone followed the band’s Australian tour announcement a month beforehand, in which the band revealed they’d been in a Perth studio with Savell for “the better part of five months.”
Throughout the tour, the band showcased “new material, road-tested for the first time,” while older songs were “bent into new shapes.” The tour allowed Australian fans to “get a taste of the next chapter of Karnivool before the rest of the world.”
