John Farnham's family have confirmed that the singer is in stable condition in intensive care, following successful surgery to remove a cancerous tumour in his mouth.
The Australian music icon was rushed into a marathon surgery yesterday, causing widespread concern for his wellbeing. This morning, Jill, Rob and James Farnham released a statement on the singers' health stating
"We are genuinely overwhelmed by the incredible wave of support, love and messages we have received today from so many people around Australia. This means so much to us as a family. Thank you to everyone for this. John will be blown away. Jill Farnham has provided this update statement, “John has been through an eleven and a half hour surgery in Melbourne yesterday and is now in a stable condition in ICU."

In a statement released yesterday, Farnham said, “Cancer diagnosis is something that so many people face every single day, and countless others have walked this path before me. The one thing I know for sure is that we have the best specialist healthcare professionals in Victoria, and we can all be grateful for that. I know I am.”
Farnham has had health issues previously, being hospitalised with a kidney infection in 2019. At the time he was forced to cancel his tour of Australia last minute stating, "I didn't realise until too late. I'd been feeling uncomfortable. My wife Jill had been telling me to go to the doctor."
The legendary singer-songwriter has been in the limelight since he was a teen, breaking onto the scene in the late 1960s.
His most notable piece of work is his 1986 released album Whispering Jack, which featured the standout single You're The Voice. It remains the second highest-selling album in Australia to date. He followed up Whispering Jack with other chart-topping records including Age Of Reason in 1988 and Chain Reaction in 1990.
Off the back of his supreme catalogue, he received 19 ARIA Awards, an Officer of the Order Of Australia award in 1996 and was named the Australian of the year in 1987.
In 2019 he staged a charity concert to raise money for drought-affected farmers across Australia, raising over $4.4 million dollars.
