'The Voice' admitted to Victorian hospital for treatment.
Australian music legend John Farnham has been hospitalised today, undergoing surgery for cancer.
In a statement, Farnham said, “Cancer diagnosis is something that so many people face every single day, and countless others have walked this path before me. The one thing I know for sure is that we have the best specialist healthcare professionals in Victoria, and we can all be grateful for that. I know I am.”
Farnham has had health issues previously, being hospitalised with a kidney infection in 2019. At the time he was forced to cancel his tour of Australia last minute stating, "I didn't realise until too late. I'd been feeling uncomfortable. My wife Jill had been telling me to go to the doctor."
The legendary singer-songwriter has been in the limelight since he was a teen, breaking onto the scene in the late 1960s.
He's most notable piece of work is his 1986 released album Whispering Jack, which featured standout single You're The Voice. It remains the second highest selling album in Australian to date. He followed up Whispering Jack with other chart topping records including Age Of Reason in 1988 and Chain Reaction in 1990.
Off the back of his supreme catalogue he received 19 ARIA Awards, an Officer of the Order Of Australia award in 1996 and was named the Australian of the year in 1987.
In 2019 he staged a charity concert to raise money for drought-affected farmers across Australia, raising over $4.4 million dollars.
