Almost 25 years to the day since their first visit to Australia, Arizona emo pioneers Jimmy Eat World have announced their latest round of local dates, bringing a classic record to stages around the country in the process.

Returning to local shores for the first time since 2023, Jimmy Eat World will touch down in Australia this December for a four-date tour to celebrate 25 years of their Bleed American record. Launching at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion on December 10th, they'll visit Melbourne's Margaret Court Arena, Adelaide's Hindley Street Music Hall, and wrap it up a show at Brisbane's Riverstage on December 15th.

Joining the band on all dates are Australian acts Ruby Fields and A. Swayze & The Ghosts.

Originally released in July of 2001 as their fourth studio record, Bleed American was the follow-up to 1999’s Clarity, which has itself amassed cult status as one of the greatest emo albums of all time.

It also has an Australian connection, too, with recording sessions for the record being broken up while the band went on tour with Perth’s Jebediah in the US in 2000.

Bolstered by the success of its title track as lead single, Bleed American was rebranded as a self-titled record in the wake of the September 11 attacks, but managed to survive this unintended commercial threat thanks to the arrival of the massive single The Middle.

It became the first (and to date, only) Jimmy Eat World song to hit the Australian charts, and has since entered Spotify’s Billion Streams club, while tracks like Sweetness, A Praise Chorus, The Authority Song, and others remain unifying anthems of era. Meanwhile, the record itself would chart internationally, and swiftly become one of the most acclaimed pop punk and emo records of the 21st century.

25 years since its release, Jimmy Eat World are approaching the upcoming tour with renewed perspective, and with the intention of showing gratitude to their legions of fans who helped the record become the massive success it was.

"I feel like at this time in our lives, especially for me, it's important to get back to a place that you can savor,” explains vocalist and guitarist Jim Adkins. “This tour is designed to be an elevated version of our show, a heightened experience with production that reflects 25 years of learning how to stretch artistically in the live environment.'

“When we printed the last mix of Bleed American, we felt like we had achieved something great for ourselves,” he adds. “There was no barometer of how it would connect with people outside of the studio, and we are still in awe with the life the record and songs have had since their original release.

Bleed American is as much yours as it is ours, so we want to celebrate it with you all in a very special way."

Tickets to Jimmy Eat World’s upcoming tour are on sale from 11am local time on Thursday, July 16th, while a PayPal presale is available for 48 hours from 10am local time on Tuesday, July 14th.
