James MarriottSwiss-born English musician James Marriott has postponed his forthcoming Australian tour after his flights were cancelled.
“Hi everyone, I wanted to share an update about my Australia tour,” the California Rain singer wrote on his Instagram Stories, a statement also shared by tour promoter Frontier Touring.
Citing the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has resulted in the closures of airports in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Doha, and airlines such as Qatar Airways and Emirates temporarily suspending their long-haul services that involve stops in the Middle East, Marriott can’t feasibly fly to and from Australia for his tour this month. The conflict and flight cancellations also impacted music festivals such as Pitch Music & Arts and WOMADelaide.
“With the ongoing conflict in the Middle East right now, our flights to and from Australia have unfortunately been cancelled,” Marriott explained.
He added, “We’ve explored every option we could to try and make this tour happen, but sadly, under the current circumstances, it’s not viable to ensure our large tour entourage can get there swiftly and safely.”
Assuring fans that the tour is not cancelled, and his team is working hard to secure rescheduled shows, Marriott’s statement continued, “Therefore, with a heavy heart, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to postpone the upcoming tour dates.

“This really isn’t something I ever wanted to do. We were all so excited to come and play new and old music for you. Please know this isn’t a cancellation, the team are working on rescheduling the tour so we can get back out and play for you as soon as it’s safe for us to travel and we can get the venues booked.”
The statement concluded, “Hang onto your tickets, as soon as we have more information on the rescheduled dates, I’ll share it with you all. My sincerest apologies. Thank you so much for your understanding and support - it means a lot.”
Marriott was scheduled to tour Australia this month, with theatre shows booked in Perth, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Brisbane. He’s touring in support of his UK #1 album, Don’t Tell The Dog, released last year.
The singer last played in Australia in December 2024, with shows supporting his 2023 debut album, Are We There Yet?
