Australian artists, including INXS and Olivia Newton-John, have releases available in the Record Store Day Black Friday sale.
Of course, the ordinary Record Store Day took place in mid-April this year, and on Friday, 28 November, vinyl lovers—and those of us who want to buy loved ones a record for Christmas—can find exclusives, RSD First, and small run/regional titles from independent record stores.
Kicking things off for Australian RSD Black Friday releases is Bluey with Bluey the Album - 5th Birthday Zoetrope Edition, followed by INXS - Live From Royal Albert Hall, London, 1986, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Live in ‘24, and Olivia Newton-John - Xanadu - Live & Remixed.
The Aussies featuring on the list share appearances with highly anticipated releases from a-Ha, Alice Cooper, Devo, The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Billie Eilish, Fleetwood Mac, Fred again.., Led Zeppelin, Billy Joel, Joni Mitchell, Motörhead, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Chappell Roan, The Rolling Stones, Talking Heads, and more.
You can visit your local independent record store to find out if they’re contributing to the Record Store Day Black Friday sales, with Melbourne’s Discrepancy Records already noting that it’s participating in the November date.

In April, Australian singer-songwriter Gordi shared a double single 7” of her singles Peripheral Lover and Alien Cowboy on limited edition pink marble for her Record Store Day exclusive release.
She said of her appreciation for record stores, “Rifling through crates in record stores is my favourite thing. Discovering gems I’ve never heard of, finding albums that I love, newly released on vinyl. Record stores are more important than ever for connecting artists and audiences.”
In March, You Am I and Royel Otis joined the exclusive Record Store Day Australia release list, accompanying the likes of The Saints, Pond, Dannii Minogue, Ninajirachi, and more.
