ON THE ROAD

Brisbane's Like Thieves – fronted by former Butterfly Effect's Clint Boge – will hit the road for an east coast tour next month, celbrating the success of their debut EP The Wolves At Winter's Edge. See dates.

The John Steel Singers have announced their main warm-up act for their The Music presented tour, Brisbane's all-gal troupe Go Violets playing at all shows across the country. More.

Melbourne's post-hardcore rockers Dream On Dreamer added their local supports for upcoming The Loveless Tour, naming a host of bands joining themselves, US-based acts A Skylit Drive and No Bragging Rights, and Australia's own Hellions on the bill for the line of shows. See the full list here.

TV Colours, Batpiss and Deep Heat were named as the support acts for the upcoming METZ Australian tour, Batpiss backing up in both Sydney and Melbourne. More.

Adding to their Meredith Music Festival appearance, nine-piece Clairy Browne & The Bangin' Rackettes have expanded with a handful of shows announced for November. Their tour, supported by Miles and Simone, comes after achieving some success overseas. Check it out.

Also set to be on the road, recently-signed rapper Allday unveiled a string of shows, cappng off a pretty successful week for the young hip hop artist from Adelaide. Details.

EYE ON THE CHARTS

On the singles/EP independent labels through independent distribution chart this week, Sheppard remains at number one with their self-titles offering (Independent/MGM), while Elizabeth Rose's The Good Life (Independent/Inertia) made a pretty hefty rise from 14th to 8th.

Flume had both rises and falls in the Carlton Dry singles/EP independent charts this week, Holdin On (Future Classic) moving up one spot to five, while On Top (featuring T.Shirt) and Sleepless (featuring Jezzabell Doran) (Future Classic) fell a few spots to 15th and 14th respectively.

While Eskimo Joe's Got What You Need (Dirt Diamond Productions/Inertia) had the biggest change, moving from number seven to number 17. That didn't change their luck on the albums on independent labels through independent distribution, still claiming the number one spot for Wastelands (Dirt Diamond Productions/Inertia).

As for album debuts in the same charts, Fred Smith's Dust Of Uruzgan (Independent/Inertia) and Burn by The Young Lions (Independent/Inertia) but entered at 12 and 15 respectively, while The Paper Kites (Independent/Inertia), The Sunny Cowgirls (Independent/WJO), Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (Kobalt/Inertia) and Wolf & Club (Independent/MGM) all made re-entries.

OTHER RELEASE NEWS

The Jezebels made their comeback through the week, unleashing new tune The End online. Listen.

A follow-up record for Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders has been discussed, enlisting the producing help from The Presets' Kim Moyes with completion before the end of the year and release in the first half of 2014. More.

SIGN THE DOTTED LINE

Aussie rockers from Bunbury Make Me Believe penned a new recording deal with the hardcore UNFD. They are getting ready to release some new tunes and are the second WA band to join the label in the last couple of month. Read on.           

And just revealed today, Melbourne hop-hoppers Diafrix have signed a deal with Niche Agency following a pretty huge year for the duo. More.

TIDBITS

The Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards were owned by Flume this year, the producer picking up four awards, Vance Joy also picked up a few gongs and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard become 50 grand richer. The full list.

Speaking of awards, the ARIA Awards announced their nominations yesterday with Big Scary, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, San Cisco, Shappard and The Drones rounding out the Best Independent Release category. See all nominations.

Meanwhile, producer Mathas picked up the WAM Song Of The Year, for Nourishment (featuring Abbe May), making it a trio with the best electronic and urban/hip hop song wins as well. The entire winners list here.
