HermitudeSydney electronic duo Hermitude have once again ascended to the highest placing atop the Carlton Dry Independent Music Charts Singles ladder for The Buzz (featuring Mataya & Young Tapz), which swaps spots with previous #1 Elastic Heart, by Sia, to enjoy its 15th week in the rankings in pole position.
In a week surprisingly devoid of new entries, incumbent challengers were forced to tussle among themselves across both the Singles and Albums charts, with Sia emerging as probably the median dominatrix on account of 1000 Forms Of Fear still overseeing the full-length stakes and Big Girls Cry and Chandelier slotting in at #3 and #4 on the Singles chart to give the platinum-wigged songstress a healthy hat-trick monopoly on the three "interior" top-five spots (the other bookend is held by Flume, featuring Andrew Wyatt, for Some Minds).
Meg Mac's Roll Up Your Sleeves just misses out on the top-five cut-off, coming in at #6, but it's off the back of a sizable jump from #13 last week, so props are definitely due there as it is the biggest shot up the ladder for anyone making northward headway this week (only just beating The Smith Street Band to the honour, whose Throw Me In The River hits #7 from the same starting point). Blowing out to the top 10, What So Not (featuring George Maple) step up from #11 last week to claim the #10 spot with Gemini, while previous placeholder Hayden James sees Something About You take a tumble to #12.
However, despite the lack of debuts, it is a strong week for re-entries — San Cisco (Run, #13), SAFIA (You Are The One, #17), George Maple (Talk Talk, #19) and Chet Faker (1998, #20) all rear their heads for at least a second time on the Singles chart, while we also see return full-lengths from The Smith Street Band (Sunshine & Technology, #15), Ta-Ku (Songs To Make Up To, #16), Sia (again are you kiddi-Best Of…, #19) and Thundamentals (So We Can Remember, #20).
