Gurrumul's New Album Tops The Indie Charts

Scoring the #1 spot.

More Gurrumul Gurrumul

His new album debuted at #3 spot on last week's ARIA Albums Chart just last week, but Indigenous singer Gurrumul couldn't be denied in this week's Carlton Dry Independent Charts, scoring the #1 spot with The Gospel Album.

The acclaimed songwriter's album dethroned Aussie pop singer Sia's 1000 Forms Of Fear down one spot to #2, but the Adelaide-born artist would hardly be disappointed as the album has managed to stay at the top end of the charts for an impressive 57 weeks.

Meanwhile, Gurrumul's self-titled 2008 debut album made its way back into the chart this week after re-emerging last week at #17 to climb its way to #8.

Rounding out the top five included electro duo Hermitude with their album Dark Night Sweet Light at #3, Seth Sentry's Strange New Past at #4 and Flight FacilitiesDown To Earth which fell three spots to #5.

Similarly to the Albums Chart, the Singles Chart also had very little movement, albeit with yet another impressive feat from Sia.

The 39-year-old topped the chart with her new single, Fire Meet Gasoline, which not only pushed Hermitude's The Buzz down to second position, but ensured that the now US-based musician rounded out four of the top five songs. (Elastic Heart #3, Chandelier #4 and Big Girls Cry #5)
