The New Yorkers will take time from Falls, announcing a Sydney sideshow
Indie-rock darlings Grizzly Bear have been unveiled as the newest addition to the Sydney Opera House's Music at the House contemporary music program, the band making their debut at the venue in a massive January show.
Returning to Australian shores for the recently sold-out Falls Festival (well, Byron anyway), and after playing a string of dates last year, including the now final Harvest Festival, the four-piece from New York will bring Sydney fans some beautiful harmonies and folk-come-psychedelic tunes on Sunday 5 January in the Concert Hall.
Well known for 2006 breakout single Knife from debut Yellow House, Grizzly Bear have subsequently harnessed a large following their two LP's Veckatimest and last year's Shields, making fans of Radiohead, Fleet Foxes and Paul Simon.
Ben Marshall, Head of Contemporary Music at the Sydney Opera House, believes their performance will be one of the most impressive this festival season.

“Grizzly Bear's soaring, emotive harmonies and dazzling sonic ambition will sound phenomenal in the Opera House Concert Hall," Marshall said.
"Grizzly Bear are an incredible live proposition at the best of times and I know the occasion of their Opera House debut will be one of the very finest live shows Sydney sees this summer.”
The band follow the lead of the likes of Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, James Blake and most recently, Calexico, who have graced the stage for the Music at the House program, with a range of stunning performances yet to come, including The National, Iron & Wine and CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers.
