Time For Tame Impala & Flume To Bust Out The Suits - The 2021 Grammy Nominations Are In!

Tame Impala and Flume continue to cement their place as two of Australia's biggest exports after picking up nominations for the 2021 Grammy Awards today. 

Tame Impala - aka Kevin Parker - is up for Best Rock Song for his track Lost In Yesterday, seeing him up against Phoebe Bridgers, Big Thief, Fiona Apple and Brittany Howard in the category. Parker is also nominated for Best Alternative Music Album for The Slow Rush, up against Apple, Howard, Bridgers and Beck. 

Parker has previously been nominated for Best Alternative Music Album for his albums Lonerism and Currents in 2014 and 2016 respectively. 

Flume is up for Best Dance Recording - which he took out with Skin back in 2016 - for his track The Difference featuring Toro y Moi. He's up against Diplo & SIDEPIECE, Disclosure, Jayda G and Kaytranada for the award. 


Australian born Red Hot Chili Peppers member Flea is up for Best Spoken Word Album (Includes Poetry, Audio Books & Storytelling) for his memoir Acid For The Children, while Sydney's Hillsong Young & Free are nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.

US producers who have worked across Australian artist albums are also well represented in the Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical category with Jack Antonoff (Sia, The Chicks, Taylor Swift), Andrew Watt (5 Seconds Of Summer, Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus) and Dave Cobb (Airbourne, John Prine, Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit) all nominated. 

Record Of The Year nominees include Beyonce for Black Parade, Black Pumas for Colors, DaBaby for Rockstar feat. Roddy Ricch, Doja Cat for Say So, Billie Eilish for Everything I Wanted, Dua Lipa for Don't Start Now, Post Malone for Circles, and Megan Thee Stallion for Savage feat. Beyonce. 

Jhené Aiko, Black Pumas, Coldplay, Jacob Collier, HAIM, Dua Lipa, Post Malone and Taylor Swift are all up for Album Of The Year, while Beyonce, Roddy Rich, Swift, Malone, Lipa, Eilish, HER and JP Saxe feat. Julia Michaels are nominated for Song Of The Year. 


New Zealand's Taika Waititi picks up a nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media for his film Jojo Rabbit, alongside the Jaja Ding Dong-filled Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga, Bill & Ted Face The Music, Frozen 2 and A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood

Two previous Grammy Award winners pick up a nominations in a new category this year too, with David Byrne's American Utopia On Broadway and Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill both up for Best Musical Theater Album.
