More Broods More Broods

New Zealand electro pop duo Broods have been turning heads all over the world and this time, they've caught the attention of The Late Late Show With James Corden. Georgia and Caleb Nott sent us in a behind-the-scenes photo diary of their night on the show.

We had just come off three days of solid rehearsal with our new temporary drummer and good friend Ben, and our new live keyboardist/backing vocalist Camila. You will get to see (and hear) her if you come to see us play live in Australia next month. She has a beautiful head of curly hair and is just amazing. This was our first time performing together so we were all a bit nervous. Our call time at the studio was at the respectable hour of 8:00am and even though the CBS studio where James Corden is filmed is in extremely close proximity to our house, we decided that we’d drive... LA has made us quite lazy ;).

We arrived at CBS Studio and unloaded all our gear. Caleb has quite a lot of equipment so loading in can often take quite some time and a few trips from the car to the studio... good for burning off the big breakfast we’d just shoved down our throats five mins before we had to leave the house.

Having previously performed on Late Night With Seth Meyers and Conan O'Brien, we knew this would be a slick well-oiled machine. In our experience American TV shows are so well organised, they always run to time and the crew at James Corden were so lovely, a lot of British accents which coming from New Zealand oddly made us feel at home. Our dressing rooms were well stocked with great snacks, popcorn, chips, chocolate, veggies and dips, and a lot of cold Red Bull cans. Because we seriously love snacks, we soon found ourselves slipping into serious food comas. Here’s our drummer Ben falling prey to serious food-related fatigue.

By the time we had set up, soundchecked and devoured a dressing room worth of snacks, it was time to get ready. Our make up artist Gloria and our hair stylist Anna worked their magic on us turning these two tired Kiwis into TV-ready performers.

We hung out in the green room watching the show while the first half was being shot. Here we are dressed and all ready to go. Just before we went on stage, one of the producers took us to the show’s Photo Booth to get our photo taken and pinned on the wall with the show’s previous guests.
