The BeatlesIn just a few weeks – on Thursday, June 25th – the world will celebrate Global Beatles Day, and for the first time, so will the band and their record label.
If you’ve not heard of Global Beatles Day, it’s a relatively new holiday of sorts. Launching back in 2009 by a US fan of The Beatles, Faith Cohen, the day was intended as something of a love letter to the group, and has since become a global movement built on joy, togetherness and connection.
The date of June 25th was chosen by Cohen in honour of the 1967 Our World program – a BBC television special was broadcast globally, and featured The Beatles performing All You Need Is Love for the very first time. With between 400 to 700 million watching from 24 countries, it was the biggest televised event up to that point, and remains a high point for The Beatles’ dedicated fanbase.
17 years since its launch, Global Beatles Day has now received the highest-possible honour, with Apple Corps Ltd – the company founded by The Beatles to manage their creative and business ventures – formally acknowledging the Day.
“More than ever, the message of The Beatles, and of All You Need Is Love speaks to something vital for community, connection, and the power of bringing people together,” Apple Corps CEO Tom Greene said in a message to Cohen.
“That is what makes Global Beatles Day so special. It asks nothing more than for people, wherever they are, to stop, listen, and share a little joy.”

To celebrate the occasion, The Beatles will also release a colourised version of the Our World performance of All You Need Is Love for free on YouTube. While it was previously colourised and made available thanks to the Anthology series, it’s never received an official standalone release until now.
There is no ‘official’ way to celebrate Global Beatles Day apart from leaning into the message of the day itself (and maybe listening to some of their music), but the website does list a few suggestions and organisations to support if you’re looking for ways to get involved.
