Alt-rock veterans Garbage have announced the release of their sixth studio album, due out on June 10
Veteran US-Scottish alt-rockers Garbage are back with their sixth studio album, Strange Little Birds, due to be released this June on the band’s own STUNVOLUME label (through Liberator Music in Australia).
The self-produced follow-up to 2012’s much-acclaimed Not Your Kind Of People will be accompanied by a tour of Europe and the UK.
Recorded both in drummer Butch Vig’s basement and at Red Razor Sounds in Los Angeles, the album takes influences from fan letters, as well as albums the band members loved in their youth.
“The guiding principle was keeping it fresh, and relying on instinct both lyrically and musically,” frontwoman Shirley Manson said in a statement of the creative process.

“We fell in love with immediacy,” Vig added.
Manson said fans from way back may also hear shades of Garbage’s classic, self-titled 1995 debut.
“To me, this record, funnily enough, has the most to do with the first record, rather than any of the previous records,” she said. “It’s getting back to that beginner’s headspace. In part, that’s a result of not having anyone to answer to.”
The band recently shared the album’s title on Twitter and today released the track listing and cover art. Check it out below.
Strange Little Birds will be released on Friday 10 June via Liberator Music.
