More Foo Fighters More Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters and tour promoters Frontier Touring are teasing the band’s return to Australia—and the tour (presuming it’s a tour) will be announced before we know it.

On Monday (1 December), Frontier Touring shared an image of a billboard with Foo Fighters’ logo atop The Winston pub in Hobart on social media. They captioned the post, “Give me a reason, show me a sign,” and linked to frontiertouring.com/ff.

If you head to that website, you’ll see a countdown that's down to 20 hours and 56 minutes, which means we’ll have an announcement with tour dates and ticketing details at approximately 6 am tomorrow (3 December).

You can check out the post and website below.

Sharing an image of The Winston pub has also prompted punters to speculate about where Foo Fighters will perform. Is it a one-off Hobart show or a more traditional, expansive tour? And with the band’s history of booking epic Australian support acts, such as Amyl And The Sniffers, The Chats, Teenage Joans, Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers, and many others, who will open for them this time?

Reviewing their show at Perth’s HBF Park, The Music’s Sam Mead wrote: “Each song feels fresh and euphoric, as if the band never gets tired of playing them as long as you’re loving it. It’s just six guys playing a couple of guitars, keys, drums, and microphones against the world and having the time of their lives whilst doing it.”

Mead added, “With a setlist lasting over two and a half hours, this Foo Fighters experience isn’t for the faint of heart, but if your legs can last that long, you’re in for a treat spanning 30 years in the making.”

In October, Foo Fighters dropped their first new song with their new drummer, Ilan Rubin, who joined the band after performing a drummer swap of sorts with Nine Inch Nails.

The new single, Asking For A Friend, is riff-heavy and arrived after some teasing on social media. It’s the follow-up to the single Today’s Song, released in July with frontman Dave Grohl on drums.

It also arrived after the band dropped a surprise live album exclusively on Bandcamp, also in October, recorded at the band’s recent US club shows.
