Foo Fighters Announce One-Off Tasmanian Show
The Foo Fighters will play their first Tasmanian show in more than a decade next month when they visit Launceston for the first time.

After last gracing us with their presence just two years ago, iconic rockers the Foo Fighters have announced their return to Australia with a special one-night-only affair in Tasmania.
Set to take place on January 24th, the event – officially dubbed Take Cover Tasmania – will see the legendary outfit heading up UTAS Stadium in Launceston. The show will mark their first time playing Tasmania since 2015, and their first-ever time in Launceston.
Joining the group on the tour will be Brisbane rockers Full Flower Moon Band, while Launceston psych trio Spooky Eyes round out the bill.
The upcoming show marks the Foo Fighters’ 14th visit to Australia, having last played in the country back in November/December 2023. That show was in turn their first run of headline dates since 2018, though they had visited Australia in March 2022 for a one-off performance in Geelong, marking the first stadium-sized show in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.
That show was also the last time that local fans got a chance to see drummer Taylor Hawkins behind the kit, with the longtime percussionist passing away only weeks later.
The group would return to the studio to record their 11th album, But Here We Are, with frontman and founder Dave Grohl resuming his place behind the kit. Josh Freese would adopt the role of full-time drummer in 2023, ultimately swapping roles with Nine Inch Nails' percussionist Illan Rubin earlier this year.

Having taken a year away from touring between 2024 and 2025, September marked a full-scale return for the Foo Fighters, who released the new single Today’s Song in September, and Asking For A Friend in October. There's no word yet if these tracks will be accompanied by a full studio album in the near future.
Tickets to the Foo Fighters’ Launceston show go on sale from 4pm AEDT on Wednesday, December 10th. A Telstra Plus pre-sale runs for 48 hours from 12pm AEDT on Friday, December 5th, and a Frontier Members pre-sale runs for 24 hours from 1pm AEDT on Monday, December 8th.
