The BeatlesThe first look at Sam Mendes’ upcoming four-part biopic about The Beatles has been released, via a collection of postcards.
As Consequence of Sound reports, the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts—founded by Paul McCartney—has unveiled an exclusive first look at the trendy actors in character as the Fab Four. The postcards were hidden across the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, with students encouraged to find them and tag the school’s Instagram account.
The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event will depict Paul Mescal (Gladiator II, Normal People) as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson (The Iron Claw, Babygirl) as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, The Batman) as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things, Les Misérables) as George Harrison. All four films are scheduled for release in April 2028.
Revealing the first look of Mescal as McCartney via Instagram, the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts Instagram account captioned the post, “We’ve been given exclusive postcards promoting the new Beatles movies!
“We’ve hidden them around LIPA, and we want students to find them. If you spot one tag @lipaliverpool & @sonypicturesuk.”

Last April, Sam Mendes—the director known for American Beauty, 1917, and the James Bond entries Skyfall and Spectre—confirmed that all four biopics focused on The Beatles will be released in cinemas in April 2028.
“We’re not just making one film about the Beatles – we’re making four,” Mendes said (per The Guardian). “Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.”
Revealing that he’d been attempting to make a film about The Beatles for years before he “finally gave up,” Mendes stated that the band’s story “was too big for one film.” He didn’t want to make a television series or add another documentary to the lengthy list of documentaries about the band.
He added, “There had to be a way to tell the epic story for a new generation. I can assure you there is still plenty left to explore, and I think we found a way to do that.”
In 2023, The Beatles released their final song, Now And Then, with an accompanying music video helmed by The Lord Of The Rings director Peter Jackson. Jackson had previously directed the three-part Disney+ documentary The Beatles: Get Back and helped release the restored 1970 documentary Let It Be.
