Byron Bay-based brewery Stone & Wood have announced the details around this year’s Festival Of The Stone coming this June, destined to heat up Byron with a major lineup of homegrown talent.
The treasured event celebrates its 11th year of bringing music, community and traditional brewing together, unveiling their latest batch of Stone & Wood’s Stone Beer in celebration of the event. Following a sold out festival in 2024 with the likes of Dan Sultan, Beddy Rays, The Beefs, Verge Collection and more soundtracking the day, Festival Of The Stone returns with an even bigger lineup of local legends.
Leading the lineup is WA indie-rock duo Old Mervs, who are fitting in time in between a nationwide tour for their self-titled debut album to grace the Festival Of The Stone stage. Multi-ARIA award-winning singer-songwriter Josh Pyke will also be appearing at the festival, bringing beloved storytelling and rich melodies that have solidified his place as one of Australia’s most cherished songwriters. Hailing from Frankston, Victoria, The Belair Lip Bombs will be joining the ranks, showcasing their blend of heartfelt lyricism, irresistible hooks and indie rock soundscapes to the audience of Festival Of The Stone.
Newcastle post-punk quintet dust come equipped with their dark, jazz-infused sound and fearless experimentation – a facet of their artistry which has already taken them to support slots for bands like Slowdive, Interpol and Bloc Party. Finally, 2024 Queensland Music Award recipient FELONY. and Meanjin alternative rock six-piece, strayfold, will also be making appearances at this upcoming Festival Of The Stone.
Stone & Wood will also continue to use the proceeds of the event to contribute to the funding of Byron Shire’s homeless hub Fletcher Street Cottage.
With recent statistics of homelessness in NSW revealing that the Byron Shire has the highest rate of homelessness in the state (depicting 348 recorded rough sleepers across the region in 2024, a 16% increase from February 2023), Festival Of The Stone will supply financial support to the cottage, with funds going towards providing essential services, information, referrals, practical support, advocacy and more.
