Fear FactoryCalifornian industrial metal icons Fear Factory have shared a statement responding to the death of a fan following their Sydney show last week.
According to sources such as 9 News, 28-year-old Seamus Duignan had been celebrating his birthday on Friday, May 22nd, and was returning from Fear Factory’s performance at Sydney’s Liberty Hall when he passed away.
Police stated that 42-year-old Tamati Gilbert had been driving a white Audi sedan across Captain Cook Bridge at Sans Souci when he veered onto the other side of Rocky Point Road, colliding with a Toyota Camry. The passengers of the Toyota – 22-year-old Uber driver Shoaib Hussain and Duignan – were killed instantly.
“We were deeply saddened to hear about the tragic accident involving one of the fans who attended our Sydney show,” said founding Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares in a video shared to social media.
“Our thoughts and condolences go out to their family, friends, and everyone affected by this loss,” he added. “We’re grateful to everyone who comes out to support Fear Factory around the world, and we simply want to remind everyone to travel safely and look out for one another on the road home.
“Much respect and sympathy from all of us in Fear Factory.”

In the wake of Duignan's passing, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to help relieve his family as they navigated the "financial pressure of funeral costs, household expenses, and everyday living expenses while trying to navigate this heartbreak."
Already, the campaign has reached more than $51,000 of its $60,000 goal.
Fear Factory’s current tour – their first since 2024 – continued with a Melbourne date over the weekend, and will conclude with dates in Brisbane, Townsville, and Hobart on May 26th, 27th, and 29th, respectively. They'll wrap their latest visit down under with their first New Zealand show since 2012 on May 31st.
