Music agency The Push today announced FACE THE MUSIC 08, an exciting music industry event to assist Victoria’s talented musicians in furthering their careers within the Australian contemporary music industry.
FACE THE MUSIC 08 will be held at the Arts Centre in Melbourne from 11.30am to 5pm on Saturday 8th November. Key music industry professionals will come together to support our new and emerging artists in 5 hours of powerhouse workshops, networking opportunities and industry panels. 13 separate sessions will provide tips on songwriting, touring, radio play, promotion, recording processes and publishing. Leading music industry lawyer and Push Chairman Darren Sanicki says the interaction and networking opportunities that FACE THE MUSIC 08 will provide is a great boost for emerging musicians. “There are going to be plenty of opportunities to make contacts with representatives from record labels, successful artists and management, touring companies, radio stations, publishing companies and music promoters all in the same place. FACE THE MUSIC 08 is giving developing artists a rare opportunity for professional development.” says Sanicki. Music businesses on hand to share their ideas include Mushroom Music, Roadrunner, Staple, Shock, Premier Artists, Beat, Level Two, Handsome Tours, Teclo, BNM Records and Native Tongue Publishing. APRA is presenting a special songwriting masterclass with The Cat Empire’s singer/percussionist Felix Riebl, who will share some of his experience and the tools that he’s used to write award winning songs such as Days Like These, Hello and No Longer There.
The Arts Centre will open up its Soundhouse studios for interactive workshops, with Australian music producer Richard Stolz (After the Fall, Behind Crimson Eyes, and 28 Days), exploring innovative recording techniques and The Arts Centre’s Dan West leading a session on how to create electronic beats. Educational institutions will offer information about educational pathways for musicians, and selected attendees will be provided with training accreditation through the FReeZACentral program. Arts Victoria will also outline the support they provide for contemporary music through the Victoria Rocks grant program. “FACE THE MUSIC 08 is an exciting, dynamic event that will address some of the great unknowns of the music industry and share all that you need to know to reach greater levels of success in your career as an artist or band” said Push project coordinator and Antiskeptic frontman, Andrew Kitchen.
FACE THE MUSIC 08 is provided free thanks to the support of The Push and the Victorian Government’s FReeZACentral and Victoria Rocks programs, and partnerships with APRA and the Arts Centre. To find out more and register for this event see www.thepush.com.au .
