Sydney's Bird's Robe Records sign on for an official release of Ox's celebrated EP, 'Raw Styles'

Illustrious performer Ezekiel Ox — he of Full Scale, Mammal, The Nerve and Over-Reactor infamy — has had the grandest of feathers placed in this year's cap, with the announcement that he has signed up with renowned Sydney label Bird's Robe Records for an official release of his acclaimed EP, Raw Styles, to coincide with a string of celebratory headline shows around the country.

It’s already been a massive 2014 for the esteemed Mr Ox, having shared stages in support of acts such as Boots Riley of The Coup and Street Sweeper Social Club, King Of The North, Sietta and Tim McMillan, as well as co-headlining appearances with fellow ascendant buskers the Pierce Brothers.

Amongst all that activity, he nonetheless managed to put together Raw Styles and get airplay on triple j and community radio stations all around the country. The ensuing buzz turned the heads of the fine folks at Bird’s Robe (sleepmakeswaves, The Red Paintings, 65daysofstatic), and the venerated indie label is now giving the EP an official release in conjunction with Ox’s upcoming tour.

"Mike and Bird's Robe were instrumental in the development of the The Nerve, and I took Raw Styles to him first when I was shopping it around,” Ox said of the partnership in a statement. “Having Bird's Robe on board gives me the support of a label that do it for the right reasons, and in the right way."

The impending jaunt will kick off at Townsville’s Old Courthouse Theatre on Friday, October 24, and takes in a further fourteen dates between his first appearance and final show of the tour at Darwin’s Happy Yess on Friday, December 5.

He’ll be joined by Melburnian busy bees The Twoks for the majority of shows; the Victorians have themselves just wrapped up a support slot for Adalita and Clare Bowditch, as well as chalking up appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe and Woodford Folk festivals.
