SAFIA, Wave Racer, Yolanda Be Cool and countless others hit the Cross in just over a fortnight
The Electronic Music Conference is less than a month away from descending upon Sydney, and it is closer than ever to taking its final form with the revelation of the more-than-120 acts who will grace the line-up for the event's two-night EMC Play live showcase.
Descending on Kings Cross from December 3-4, the $29 showcase offers far more than punters pay for with a line-up led by the esteemed likes of SAFIA, Wave Racer, Cassian and KLP. Attendees will also have the chance to catch performances from Ivan Gough, Cosmo's Midnight, Rainbow Chan, Simon Caldwell, Tigerlilly, Slice N Dice, Kilter, Sable, Gold Fields, L D R U, Yahtzel and many more.
"The Australian dance-music community is in such good health, it's made my job incredibly enjoyable," EMC Play head of programming and ex-FBi Radio general manger of music Dan Zilber said in a statement. "I'm really proud of what's on offer at EMC Play and the amazingly talented artists and crews that represent our nation on dancefloors across the country and around the world. EMC Play will distill this talent into two action-packed nights and I think EMC delegates and punters alike are in for a wild ride."
EMC Play will spread its tendrils across four official venues — X544, Kings Cross Hotel, SOHO and World Bar — which will host fourteen showcases all up, curated by some of the country's foremost labels, crews, agencies and collectives, including Future Classic, onelove, Astral People, Select Music, Lucky Entertainment, Konkrete, Sweat It Out, etcetc, Pilerats, Purple Sneakers and many more.

In addition, the two-night showcase will give ten established and up-and-coming acts the chance to perform at various EMC Play events — keep an eye out for EMC Spotlight selections Paces, Young Franco, Tyler Touche, Dom Dolla, Catlips, Set Mo, Kwze, DJ Butcher, Problems and Goldielocks. One of those artists will find out at the event that they are to be the recipient of a $5000 international travel grant, courtesy of Jack Daniel's Future Legends initiative, which ought to really sweeten their Spotlight slot.
There are a wealth of industry and artist speakers on the cards during the conference component of EMC, too, and in keeping with this year's event's theme of Discovery, we'll see presentations from some of the global industry's leading-edge thinkers and doers, including Electric Daisy Carnival founder Donnie Estopinal, Coachella booker (Sahara Stage) Johnny Shockey, manager Matt Colon (Steve Aoki) and Flume's US booker, John Talabot.
Early-bird tickets to EMC Play are available now for $29; they'll shoot up to $49+bf on Tuesday, November 18. If you spring for a full delegate pass (from $299), you'll get priority entry into every EMC Play showcase plus the two full days of conferencing, networking and welcome drinks.
EMC takes place during ARIA Week with the support of Destination NSW, the City of Sydney, the Australia Council, Sounds Australia and the Potts Point Partnership.
