Legal proceedings around Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You are currently underway in London and a mistake by lawyers resulted in unreleased music being played in High Court.
As The Sun reports, his opponents’ legal team, who are alleging Sheeran plagiarised Sami Chokri’s 2015 song Oh Why for his megahit Shape Of You, accidentally played an unreleased song, much to the dismay of the UK hitmaker.
The copyright trial was into its third day when the new music was played instead of early recordings of Shape Of You and Sheeran was reportedly "disconcerted" at the error, asking his lawyers how they had obtained the song, one he has penned last January, before demanding an answer from the opposition.
It was explained that the track was clicked on by accident when the opposition was looking for recordings of Shape Of You’s creation on co-writer Steven McCutcheon’s laptop as his iTunes "contains some unreleased material".
