If ever there was fear that heavy music is in danger in Australia, one need only to look at the incendiary Ecca Vandal to know there’s never a lack of explosive tunes in this country.
For proof of this, one only needs to take a look at her recently-released single, CRUISING TO SELF SOOTHE. Her first piece of new music this year, the track arrives fresh off the back of a local support slot for the globetrotting IDLES.
After “taking a bit of a breather for my heart, health and art” in recent years, Ecca Vandal returned last year with tracks such as BLEED BUT NEVER DIE and THEN THERE’S ONE, proving that she hasn’t missed a single step.
Now, after previewing CRUISING TO SELF SOOTHE as far back as July, her latest cut sees her sharing even sharper hooks than ever, utilising even stronger storytelling, and blazing her own trail like never before. It’s fiery, furious, and entirely representative of her mesmerising blend of punk rock and hip hop.
“This song is about cultivating your inner strength when navigating life on your own, even when it feels a bit isolating,” Ecca explains.

“It's about that pivotal moment when you recognise that you're stronger without the people who were weighing you down, and there's a real sense of empowerment in that for me,” she adds.
“It captures the feeling of breaking free and moving forward, no matter the challenges that come. Even when others are waiting for you to fall, you're still rising — stronger than ever.”
Fittingly, this monumental new single will be getting an airing across Europe this March and April, with Ecca having been announced as a support act for none other than the legendary Limp Bizkit. As Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst himself says, Ecca and CRUSING TO SELF SOOTHE is nothing short of “legendary”.
As a further preview of her latest era, CRUISING TO SELF SOOTHE is indicative of what’s to come for Ecca Vandal in the coming months and proof that 2025 is on track to be her year.
