Donald Glover is taking on a new role, and it might be his best yet.

Variety has reported that Donald Glover has been cast as the main player in a Spider-Man spin-off movie, Hypno-Hustler

Hypno-Hustler is the latest personality from Sony’s trove of Spider-Man characters to get a feature film treatment, following 2018’s Venom, 2022’s Morbius, 2023’s Kraven the Hunter and 2024’s Madame Web.

Glover is dubbed to play the villain himself, Hypno-Hustler, who first appeared in the original comics in the late 1970s. The villain's ability to use his band, deceptive gear, and musical influence to rob his audiences makes him one of Spiderman's more obscure nemeses but also makes Glover a fantastic choice given his musical talent and his history of performing under the moniker of Childish Gambino.

The project is said to be in its earliest stages with no director or script, but Miles Murphy (son of Eddie Murphy) is on board to write the screenplay. Glover is also working as a producer on the project.

This also won't be Glover's first foray into the Spider-Man universe, as he voiced The Prowler in the 2017 hit Spider-Man: Homecoming.

His most recent appearance under the Childish Gambino moniker was on Black Party's I Love You More Than You Know. His last full-length original release was 3.15.20 in 2020.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel earlier this year, Glover spoke about the possibility of new music on the horizon.

“I’m making a lot of music,” Glover revealed. “I really love doing it. I’ve made a bunch of it. It’s just really about how to experience it at this point.”

He confessed that since having kids, it’s become a little harder to get in the zone, having to spread his time across acting, writing, music and family.

“It used to just flow, but now I have kids, so nothing flows anymore… nothing’s as easy as it used to be. I do block off time now,” he said.

Hopefully he'll be able to squeeze out an album between all his commitments sometime next year.
