Daniel Johns has started teasing some unfinished business, revealing that he has to go “back in time to finalise something.”

In his first post to Instagram since October 2023, the Silverchair frontman and successful solo artist is pictured with his dog and “ALL IS LOVE” handwritten on his arm.

The caption of the post finds Johns reflecting on time and his art, with the final lines of the caption showing Johns stepping away from social media while still using his phone.

“The beautiful thing about time, is that it is always in the eye of the beholder. Art is exactly the same,” Johns wrote.

“As an artist you never know what time it is. It’s an ongoing quest to interpret happiness and sadness with a sprinkling of absurdity. It’s drama. It’s comedy. It’s poetry. It’s a song. It’s cinema.”

He continued, “Everything is beautiful if you let it be.

“I have to go back in time to finalise something and as a result I won’t be on socials, my team will keep an eye on things. I will have my phone.

“All is love.”

Johns’ most recent album, FutureNever, was released in April 2022. It was the first album Johns released on his own label. FutureNever marked his first album in seven years.

In October 2023, Johns inked a landmark global publishing deal with BMG, which includes his solo material and the entire Silverchair catalogue.

BMG now represents Johns for publishing and releasing albums following the release of his 2022 #1 album, FutureNever. As of this year, the contract includes all of Johns’ compositions from his recent solo album to hits like Straight Lines, Freak, Ana’s Song, Tomorrow and many more.

“There is nothing without a heartbeat that I value more than my songwriting catalogue,” Johns said. “Bringing my life’s work as a composer to BMG signifies the level of faith I have in this company and their people.”
