His new album, 'No Lonely Road', is out now!
The new album from Dan Challis “represents a short but significant chapter” from his journey as a songwriter, and to celebrate its release, the Aussie artist shared a glimpse of its creation with us via the inspiration behind single Dust In The Wind.
The second album from the local talent, No Lonely Road, documents his journey from Melbourne to New York City and then Vancouver Island in Canada, which is where he penned the track Dust In The Wind.
“This song came to me one day while I was sitting in my cabin in the place I lived in on Vancouver Island in Canada. I was sitting by the fire looking at the trees outside the window, listening to the birds,” Challis said.
“I was also listening to Springsteen’s song The River, and him singing it live with Sting. I remember going into my study that morning and writing this song is a couple of hours.
“The stirring and longing in my soul that I’ve felt my whole life came out in this song - that I would maybe never rise to be a great songwriter or musician like Springsteen, and that I would just be like dust in the wind, swirling around the trees outside my cabin window - realising my own nothingness essentially and even asking a higher power; 'am I just dust in the wind?'”
