DaBaby of openly homophobic rapper fame has cancelled a show scheduled for this weekend allegedly due to low ticket sales.
Nola.com have reported that only several hundred tickets had been sold for the show at the Smoothie King Center, which holds a whopping 18,000 people. Tickets for the show had reached prices as low as $35 before being cancelled.
Promoters behind the show told NOLA that they're working on a replacement show at a different venue and that it might include more performers alongside DaBaby.
It was not entirely confirmed that the show was cancelled due to low ticket sales, with Andrew Lieber, the CEO of his booking agency stating that, “DaBaby’s New Orleans show was pulled by the artist’s team due to the promoter being in breach of contract,
“DaBaby will be back in New Orleans very soon to make it up to his fans.”
He also disputed the amount of tickets that were sold, stating that Ticketmaster was showing misleading information surrounding the interest of the concert.
The show cancellation comes one year after a range of controversy for DaBaby, when he said homophobic comments at Rolling Loud Festival.
"If you didn’t show up today with HIV/AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cell phone light in the air," he said on the mainstage.
“Fellas, if you ain’t suck a n**** d*ck in the parking lot, put your cell phone lights in the air. Keep it f*cking real.”
He continued to somewhat apologise for the comments before doubling down on them.
