More Cry Club More Cry Club

As if we needed more proof that Cry Club don't write bad songs, they return today with a track that turns glam rock upside down, Somehow (You Still Get To Me).

Deliberately campy keyboards open the song before an effortlessly cool lead guitar line by Jono Tooke comes on top of it. Vocalist Heather Riley is as spectacular as ever. Influenced by the idea of spinning Van Halen and KISS through a queer lens, Somehow (You Still Get To Me) is Cry Club's take on "the ladykiller persona that so many glam frontmen put on. Like, what if Paul Stanley or David Lee Roth were… lesbian?"

Riley was particularly keen on exploring the concept led by "Glam singers complain about how much they need to love whatever girl they're singing about, but if you flip that, you get this almost universal sapphic experience of yearning and the lengths that you will go to when you find a woman you're crazy about."

Nervous about sharing such a different song, Riley shares that the group sent the song to their team with a note that said, "let us know if this is too ridiculous."

The song's music video is an ode to Riley and Tooke's younger selves - a carefree clip inspired by growing up watching music videos on rage and Channel [V] with band posters all over the walls - that completes the narrative of Somehow (You Still Get To Me).

This is the second new song Cry Club have released this year; it follows the exuberant, unapologetic People Like Me.
