The new deal will see a slew of international artists picking up local releases in 2016
Stalwart Aussie label services company Cooking Vinyl has broadened its already-voluminous catalogue further for 2016 with the announcement of a new partnership with UK-based indie label FatCat Records.
Among the batch of renowned internationals who will see local releases this year as a result of the deal are Mercury Prize-nominated muso C Duncan — whose lauded debut full-length, Architect, will be unleashed on Australia this month, on 26 February — as well as the likes of Honeyblood (soon to release the follow-up to their 2014 self-titled debut) and post-punk/krautrock luminaries TRAAMS.
Also now on Cooking Vinyl's radar, new to the FatCat roster is Big Deal — aka Alice Costelloe and KC Underwood — as well as the label's relaunched 130701 imprint, celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. The imprint has been instrumental (no pun intended) in defining post-classical tunes in the vein of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and A Silver Mt Zion, boasting work by reams of influential figures of the genre such as Set Fire To Flames, Max Richter, Hauschka, Dustin O'Halloran, Sylvain Chauveau and Johann Johannson.
By all accounts, it's set to be a truly massive year for the new corporate collaborators — head to Cooking Vinyl and FatCat's websites to find out more about what to expect from the organisations over the next 12 months.
