American emo rockers Citizen are returning to Australia in early 2027, concluding their forthcoming World Tour with their fans Down Under.

Touring in support of their forthcoming album, Halcyon Blues, the shows take place in February 2027. Last in Australia in early 2024, when they headlined the inaugural New Bloom Festival, these upcoming shows mark their largest in the country to date.

The tour begins at Brisbane’s The Tivoli on Friday, 26 February. It continues at Sydney’s Liberty Hall on Saturday, 27 February, Melbourne’s Forum on Sunday, 28 February, Adelaide’s The Gov on Wednesday, 3 March, and concludes at Perth’s Magnet House on Thursday, 4 March. For the shows, Citizen will be joined by special guests Drug Church.

Fans can purchase pre-sale tickets on Thursday, 30 April, at 12 pm AEST, followed by the general sale on Friday, 1 May, at 10 am local time via the Destroy All Lines website.

Earlier this week, Citizen announced their new album, Halcyon Blues, drops on Friday, 7 August, via Run For Cover/Civilians. They also unveiled the lead single, Highs And Lows, which you can check out below. You can pre-order/pre-save the album here.

Throughout their impressive 17-year career, Citizen have effortlessly moved through raw emo and ominous post-hardcore into records that highlight anthemic alternative and garage-rock-inspired indie tunes. With Halcyon Blues, the band combine elements from across their diverse catalogue, making for an instantly satisfying album.

Recorded by vocalist Mat Kerekes and mixed by Tom Lorde-Alge (U2, Weezer, blink-182), Halcyon Blues taps into the urgent ferocity of their early work while stretching the scope of the alternative, undeniably hooky recent records.

Guitarist Nick Hamm explained, “A lot of bands try to do anything they can to be the hottest thing of the moment, and we’ve just never operated like that. We don’t think in moments, or months, or record cycles.

“Some bands end up getting sick of whatever walls they exist in, but I see Citizen as this long-term creative project where there’s always somewhere new to go, and that’s kept me exhilarated through all these years. And we’ve trusted that people who like our band will want to come along. A lot of people grew with us and we’re really thankful for that.”
