Childish Gambino’s January/February 2025 tour of Australia is confirmed to go ahead, tour promoters Frontier Touring confirmed to The Music.

The news arrives as the rapper and singer (real name Donald Glover) just postponed the remaining dates on his US tour. Pitchfork reports that 16 shows have been affected by the postponement. Childish Gambino began his US tour on 11 August.

Two weeks into the tour, he cancelled a show in Connecticut due to “production issues” and recently announced the postponement of a Houston show “due to illness.” Just hours ago, he confirmed that the remainder of his US tour dates have been postponed, writing on X (formerly known as Twitter) in all lowercase:

“Hey everyone. Unfortunately, I have to postpone the rest of the North American tour to focus on my physical health for a few weeks.”

Childish Gambino advised fans to hold on to their tickets, as all tickets will be honoured on the rescheduled dates after they’ve been announced. He added, “Thanks for the privacy. Thanks for the support. Thanks for the love.”

Childish Gambino’s antipodean tour begins at Auckland’s Spark Arena on Tuesday, 28 January, with the performer set to touch down at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Saturday, 1 February, followed by Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Tuesday, 4, and Wednesday, 5 February, Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Friday, 7, and Saturday, 8 February, and Perth’s RAC Arena on Tuesday, 11 February. Due to demand, extra shows were added in Melbourne and Sydney.

Opening for the multi-talent will be singer-songwriter Amaarae, performing her debut shows down under.

It’s been a busy year for Childish Gambino, who released his sixth album, Bando Stone & The New World, in July. The album is the performer’s final album under the Childish Gambino moniker.

Childish Gambino’s THE NEW WORLD TOUR is also in support of ATAVISTA, released via Liberator Music (part of the Mushroom Group).

The album is a newly reworked edition of Glover’s fourth album as Childish Gambino, 3.15.20 (or its “finished version”, as the artist puts it), which was surprise released back in May with two new tracks, the title track and Human Sacrifice.
