Carclew, the arts organisation led by industry professionals based in Adelaide, is hosting an exciting series of workshops on October 2nd called Band! Zine!! Shoot!!!.

The event will take place at the Carclew mansion in North Adelaide - in their band rooms, art room, digital suite and ballroom - overlooking the city centre from Montefiore Hill, from 10am to 4pm.

Band! Zine!! Shoot!!! is aimed at young creatives, aged 13 to 17 years old, looking to expand and cultivate their talents and potentially one day break into Adelaide’s vibrant music scene.

The event, as the title suggests, boasts three components, all run by local legends of the Adelaide arts.

The first session of the day will be a jamming and songwriting workshop hosted by the award-winning ethereal pop artist My Chérie, and Aston from punk two-piece TOWNS.

Attendees - who will have an opportunity to practise performing in front of their peers - are welcome to bring their own instruments, or to borrow from Carclew’s collection. The organisation is describing this particular portion of the workshop as “your ultimate jam session”.

A photography masterclass run by Evie Wonder will then take place. Young creatives will be instructed on a variety of crucial techniques by Wonder, who has extensive experience in capturing the raw energy of local bands performing live and in curating expert promotional content.

Once again, Carclew will have all the necessary equipment on hand for attendees to borrow when it comes to gaining some photography experience.

The final portion of the day will see a zine-making workshop provided by Lilith Malloy, one of the masterminds behind Runt Records, the arts event collective.

A strong visual talent, Malloy will be guiding attendees in how to design and package their very own zines. A variety of art-making supplies will be available at the venue, but young artists are encouraged to bring along “any photos or mags that fit your style,” and to let loose and get experimental.

Tickets for the event are now available on Carclew's website and are selling fast.

This is a stimulating, multi-faceted event perfect for artistic teenagers of all skills and backgrounds looking to learn from the best that Adelaide has to offer, fitting right into Carclew’s revered tradition of cultivating and supporting local talent.
