Brisbane Festival Unveils Massive 2021 Program

Brisbane Festival 2021 will feature Kate Miller-Heidke, Sheppard, Marlon Williams, Christine Anu, Montaigne and stacks more.

Brisbane Festival will return this September with a talent-packed line-up that boasts some of the country’s best artists alongside theatre, comedy, cabaret, film and more.

The 23-day event, running from 3 – 25 September, will host headline sets from the likes of Kate Miller-Heidke, Sheppard, Jarryd James, Client Liaison and New Zealand favourite Marlon Williams alongside stacks more.

After making its debut last year, Street Serenades will return, with Boy & Bear, Christine Anu, Montaigne and more performing across 190 Brisbane suburbs throughout the event.

Another festival highlight, Buŋgul, described as “an exquisite celebration of the talent and musical legacy of Gurrumul Yunupiŋu”, will make its Queensland debut towards the end of September.

Beloved live music venue The Tivoli will also be home to a First Nations-led program of music that includes the world premiere of large-scale musical production Restless Dream.

“There is a renewed ambition to this year’s Festival, a joyous and uplifting celebration of our River City, with large new creations, such as the premiere of Brisbane’s Art Boat along with a spectacular line up of world class talent.

“This year’s program builds upon 2020’s Boldly Brisbane vision and beckons locals and visitors alike to step into the spring light, reconnect, celebrate and enjoy this Brightly Brisbane Festival.”

Brisbane Festival Indigenous Advisory Group chair Michelle Tuahine added: “This year, 168 First Nations artisans, performers and creatives share their intensely personal narratives through ceremony, smoke, songline and performance.

“We look forward to sharing our world with you.”

Overall, this year’s program will deliver 130 productions across 222 locations across the city, and 18 of those are premieres.
