Celebrated West Australian rockers Birds Of Tokyo are hitting the road in support of their new single, Harlequins.

Still buoyed by the successful release of their fifth full-length, Brace, back in November — the title track of which landed the band the #100 spot on this year's triple j Hottest 100 — Birds Of Tokyo are setting off for regional stages around the country, kicking off in their neck of the woods at Margaret River's Settlers Tavern mid-next month.

The band will take the Harlequins tour to additional stops in Bunbury, Frankston, Geelong, the Central Coast, Newcastle, Batemans Bay and Sunshine Coast, where they close out with a festival spot for the just-announced Big Pineapple Music Festival.

According to bassist Ian Berney, the impetus for the new tour was at least partially dictated by fan sentiment following its namesake track's overwhelming popularity among the faithful.

"We've had endless feedback from fans [at shows and online] that the opening track Harlequins is a favourite; we agree," Berney said in a statement. "This song is a dish best served loud, with raucous riffs and harrowing lyrics; it's part of our heaviest-sounding record to date."
