New Bee Gees Doco Gets Release Date

There's a new Bee Gees documentary on the way and it's just scored a release date. 

Dubbed The Bee Gees: How Do You Mend A Broken Heart, the documentary is the work of producers Nigel Sinclair and Jeanne Elfant Festa (The Beatles: Eight Days a Week; George Harrison: Living in the Material World) and is directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Frank Marshall (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Seabiscuit).

The film will look at "the rise of the legendary band and the evolution of their music over the years" (which included writing over 1,000 songs and 20 #1 hit singles) and takes its name from the group's 1971 hit which claimed #1 spots on charts around the world. 

While information is still limited, filmmakers have revealed that the documentary is due for release on 3 December through Universal Pictures. 

This isn't the only time you can expect to see the Bee Gees on film too, with a biopic about the trio (made up of brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb) currently in the works. 

Paramount Pictures are teaming up with production company Sister and Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King for the film, with the production company having "purchased the life rights to the Gibb family estate on behalf of GK’s King and will be able to use their classic songs in the movie".

Known for hits including Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Night Fever and more, the group are multi-Grammy and American Music Award winners and were inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 1997. 

Barry is the sole surviving member of the band, with Maurice passing away in 2003 and Robin in 2012.
