The film will now release in 2022.
Elvis fans will have to wait a little longer to see Baz Luhrmann’s biopic on the US music legend, with news today its release has been pushed back.
Originally slated for a November release this year, the film will now open on June 3, 2022.
The biopic, which is currently being filmed in Queensland, suffered a six-month delay in 2020 when production was brought to a halt in March when star Tom Hanks tested positive for coronavirus.
Filming recommenced in September and yesterday it was revealed that US music legend Gary Clark Jr was joining its cast, which features Australia's own Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla Presley and more.
The film is based on "the life and music of Elvis Presley, seen through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker" and "delves into the complex dynamic between Presley and Parker spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America".
