This One Time, On Bandcamp: Between You & Me

Get those fists ready for some serious pumping, people

All right, friends! It's Sunday morning, and you know what that means: CHURCH TIME.

Nah, I'm just messing with you.

Well, I mean, if it is church time for you and/or your loved ones, that's totally cool. I'm not hating on the house of God, even if hymns are the most depressing songs on Earth. But the point is that it is also This One Time, On Bandcamp Day, and that matters way more to me, and I presume you, if you're here right now and not apologising to the Big Man for being a filthy sinner instead.

Let's do this. Amen.

Between You & Me — Melbourne, Vic

Man, I hope you're ready to punch the shit out of some air, because these high-energy hellcats out of Melbourne town have a goddamn lock on super-slick, anthemic-as-hell pop-punk tunes.

They only just released their debut EP, Paper Thin, mid-last month, having first broken recorded-output ground with their track Cavalier back in April. Their tight, catchy and assured jams are infused with intelligence and maturity beyond their collectively young age — instrumentally, lyrically and vocally, this is a band overflowing with talent and potential, and it's little surprise to see them now swiftly picking up notoriety in Australia's alternative circles.

The band's songs are emotive, melodic and hopeful in all the right ways; granted, they're not breaking down any barriers or forging brave new ground in the well-developed pop-punk pantheon, but it's making a damn fine contribution to it amid an era when the genre is experiencing something of a renaissance in most corners of the country.

The band have already been through a couple of line-up shuffles since their inception, having been around in various guises since 2013, but they now appear to have settled on a concrete line-up and focused their efforts on eking out a place for themselves as an act on whom to keep a very eager eye.

If you'd like to do just that, they'll be launching Paper Thin at Wrangler Studios, West Footscray, on Sunday 11 December, with support from Better HalfStuck Out and Blue Velvet.

It's a hell of a line-up and, if you're in the area, you'd be kicking yourself to not get along if it's your sort of thing. Tickets are available now

If you're out of town or otherwise can't make it, see Between You & Me's Facebook page to stay in the loop on when they might get to your neck of the woods, and check out their tunes below and on Bandcamp.
