Brisbane indie rockers Ball Park Music are bringing back our favourite alter-ego band: The Pizzas.
Set to play a one-off Christmas concert at The Triffid on December 13, The Pizzas will play their Sorry About Everything Baby “unlucky” show.
Announcing the gig on Instagram today (November 29), The Pizzas wrote, “When someone utters the words “Friday the 13th” a shiver might run down your spine as you think about the date that is synonymous with bad luck, superstition and horror. Why is this you might ask? Well, tales of Friday the 13th have been passed on through countless realms and countless generations to the point where the true meaning as to why the date has such strong connections to negative themes and experiences has become lost in the fog of our busy, modern day civilisation.”
They continued: “Here at the Pizzas we thought “FUCK THAT” let’s truly cement this day as being absolutely awful once and for all and let’s do it in the best way we know possible… By putting on one of our legendary awful shows. Honestly, the reviews have all been terrible, “worst band of all time” “go back to Brisbane” “you suck” etc etc, water off a ducks back. Instead of fighting against this constant stream of negativity, let’s embrace it. FRIDAY THE 13TH, the day you saw The Pizzas live, the worst day of your life. Unlucky.”
Tickets for the event are on sale now, via Moshtix, and will set you back only $75.89 per person.

In a tongue-in-cheek move, Ball Park Music reposted the concert announcement to their own socials, writing, “We are still very much in the throes of a legal battle with @prawnrecords about our obligation to make a post whenever our label mates @thepizzasband put on a gig. Those who have followed us for a while are well aware of the challenges we’ve faced regarding this for a really long time now. We can’t say any more or we risk derailing all the hard legal leg work that’s been done so far.
“IF you must attend this show (please don’t) can you make every effort to boo the pizzas, but also can you defend Ball Park in the instance that they try to verbally attack our integrity. We hear horror stories about these shows and as much as we try to take the high road. It’s not always possible. Thank you.”
This fake beef between Ball Park Music and their alias, The Pizzas, has been a long running joke for fans of the band. Joining in on the fun, BPM’s supporters can be found in The Pizzas’ comments, making fun of the band.
“God this sucks, why would anyone waste their time on this burnt dinner of a show,” one fan wrote.
“I’d prefer to do a shoey out of a randoms sweaty red boot and eat vegan pizza off the floor of the zoo than go to this shit show,” another said.
The Triffid itself even commented, saying, “Not looking forward to it…”
But, in the infamous words of The Pizzas, “Merry Christmas and fuck you.”
