The 2023 Grammy Awards nominees dropped overnight; the complete list is a doozy.

Next year's ceremony - which will air on Monday, 6 February in Australia - marks the first time since 2017 that Adele and Beyoncé are competing in the same categories. However, Beyoncé has also received nominations in the Best Dance/Electronic classes, with her new album Renaissance and its track Break My Soul up for the album and song groups.

For the 2023 event, the Recording Academy has added five new awards: Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical; Best Alternative Music Performance; Best Americana Performance; Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media; and Best Spoken Word Poetry Album. A Special Merit Award for Best Song for Social Change has also been added.

Notably, there are only three Australian artists and one from New Zealand. We're represented by local legends Rüfüs Du Sol, who are up against the likes of Beyoncé, Bonobo, David Guetta and Bebe Rexha, Kaytranda featuring H.E.R.; Odesza, and Diplo and Miguel. The group's track, On My Knees, has been nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Recording, while the latest Rüfüs album, Surrender, received a nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album.

Additionally, NYC-based contemporary jazz musician Linda May Han Oh, originally from Perth, has scored a nomination in the Best Jazz Instrumental Album category alongside Terri Lyne Carrington, Kris Davis, Nicholas Payton and Matthew Stevens for New Standards Vol. 1. As noted by Sydney Morning Herald last year, the acclaimed musician was the inspiration for the double bass player, Miho, in Pixar’s Soul, a film in which she also contributed music to.

Lastly, For King + Country have received a nod in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for their track For God Is With Us (featuring Hillary Scott). The fellow nominees are God Really Loves Us (Radio Version) by Crowder (featuring Dante Bowe), DOE's So Good, Maverick City Music & Kirk Franklin with Fear Is Not My Future, Holy Forever by Chris Tomlin, and Hymn Of Heaven (Radio Version) by Phil Wickham.

Meanwhile, New Zealand's Baynk, an electronic and dance music producer currently living in London, has received a nod for his work on his debut album, Adolescence, in the Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical genre. Baynk will compete against Father John Misty with Chloë And The Next 20th Century, Harry Styles' humongous Harry's House, Robert Glasper's Black Radio III, and Wet Leg's self-titled album. The artist just wrapped up a North American tour alongside English DJ Catching Flies and the Sydney electronic music duo Cosmo's Midnight.

The Kid LAROI, RÜFÜS DU SOL, AC/DC, Hiatus Kaiyote, and Nick Cave & Warren Ellis were nominated for multiple Grammy awards at last year's ceremony.

RÜFÜS DU SOL claimed the Grammy for Best Electronic/Dance Recording with Alive. Elsewhere, Hiatus Kaiyote were nominated for Best Progressive R&B Album with Mood Valiant, which was taken out by Lucky Daye for Table For Two, while Best New Artist – which The Kid LAROI was in the running for – was given to Olivia Rodrigo.
