Aussie Artists Score 2022 Grammy Award Nominations

The Kid LAROI, Hiatus Kaiyote, AC/DC and more!

All eyes might currently be on tonight’s ARIA Awards hopefuls, but zooming out a little there’s Aussie talent gracing this year’s Grammy nominations.

As expected, local superstar The Kid LAROI finds himself in the Best New Artist category, alongside the likes of Glass Animals, Olivia Rodrigo, Arlo Parks and more.

It’s been a big month for The Kid LAROI, who will make an appearance at the ARIAs tonight via a recorded performance before taking some time away from the spotlight to regroup ahead of his debut album.

He also picked up Artist Of The Year at the 2021 National Indigenous Music Awards.

Rock legends AC/DC have picked up three nominations this year, including Best Music Video and Best Rock Performance for Shot In The Dark and Best Rock Album for Power Up.

Meanwhile, international favourites RÜFÜS DU SOL score a nod for in the Best Dance/Electronic Recording category for Alive, while Hiatus Kaiyote are vying for Best Progressive R&B Album with Mood Valiant and Nick Cave & Warren EllisCarnage finds itself in the Best Recording Package category.

Overall, US talent Jon Batiste has the most nominations this year with 11, while Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Coldplay and stacks more also make the cut.
