Self-Isolated & Stylish: Here’s Who ‘The Music’ Is Repping For #AusmusicTShirtDay

17 April 2020 | 2:57 pm | The Music Team

Please judge our impeccable taste in music.

We don’t need an excuse to throw on our favourite band merch, but triple j’s special edition of Ausmusic T-Shirt Day is a damn good reason to.

In a bid to support local artists struggling amid the COVID-19 crisis, the youth broadcaster announced a special edition of the beloved annual event, raising funds for Support Act once again after last year’s Ausmusic T-Shirt Day tallied an “unbelievable” $260,664.

With #AusmusicTShirtDay trending in 13 locations globally (and sitting at #1 in Australia), here’s who we’re repping from self-isolation.

“From the first note I heard RVG play at the M Pavillion all those un-isolated summers ago, I was struck. It’s no secret their A Quality Of Mercy album has been a firm favourite but now too their soon-to-be-released Feral album (released next week and which I’ve been privileged enough to hear in advance) is set to be my fave of 2020. And if you knew the lengths I went to get the t-shirt... ”

"The man, the myth, the legend - The Senator. It's pretty damn easy to explain why Senator Briggs gets my brandishing this year. His recent track with musician (not comedian) Tim Minchin said what we were all thinking: 'You ain't fit to push the whip, you're back peddling!' When was the last time you saw boss man Briggs take a wrong turn? In a time when Scomo is herding cats, Briggs leads the way in speaking out and sending 'em back to the marketing department. Safe to say one Bad Apple doesn't spoil the bunch, one a day keeps the PM away... #briggsforpm #atleasttherubyprincesshadafuckincaptain #badapples."

"I'm expecting a baby in June and will be forcing him to wear merch from my band, The Isolated, while we're in self-isolation."

"The Tote did two nights earlier this year to raise money for those affected by the bushfires and I was lucky enough to grab a ticket to one of the nights. An amazing line-up of Jen Cloher, Sui Zhen, Jess Ribeiro and more. It was great to see the community come together in these times."

“I couldn't decide which artist I wanted to support with what little I could spare in a time of crisis. So I chose my favourite Australian record label, Elefant Traks, who support several amazing artists I love and have followed for many years now. Shout out to the ET Fam!”

"A great band name and an even greater band! Bowie here reckons Mess Of Me is one of the best songs of 2020 too."

"Well Something For Kate recently released a new single and I've been digging it, but because I can't find their shirt, this will have to suffice in the interim."
