The highly anticipated return of US sit-com is close.

LA Times reports that Netflix has confirmed that cult TV comedy series Arrested Development will be premiered in the US spring (March 2013).

Direct TV service Netflix are launching the series and other commissioned programs in an effort to amp up the fight to grab more viewers away from network TV. Filming started earlier this month.

E! are reporting that Netflix is also rumoured to be reviving the axed US version of suspense drama The Killing (it ran for two seasons on US cable channel AMC) alongside new seasons of fantasy shows Terra Nova (dinosaur drama axed by Fox after one season) and Jericho (a post-apocalyptic series axed in 2008 that was subject of a failed fan campaign to save the show).

Further good news for Arrested Development fans came via a Rolling Stone interview with star David Cross (Tobias Funke in the show) who revealed that Netflix are open to extending the return season beyond the ten episodes already confirmed.

Cross also described the intricate storylines of the new series as having "never been done on a TV show like this". He added: "This makes Lost look like a Spalding Grey monologue. You'll have to watch each episode more than once."
