Ariana Grande released her seventh album, Eternal Sunshine, last March.

The follow-up to her 2020 LP Positions was a highly anticipated release that spawned the hit single, yes, and?—and with a new album usually comes a tour. However, Grande has revealed that her “mini tour plans” for the album were scrapped in favour of her acting career.

“I was considering a mini tour between the ‘Wicked’ films, but I’ve decided to prioritise acting for now,” Grande said in a recent interview with Variety. “Performing will always be a part of my life, but I want to focus on this chapter of storytelling through film.”

While it’s not news fans want to read, she assured them that a deluxe edition of Eternal Sunshine is on the way.

Grande teased: “Oh, she exists! It’s a very special project. I’m out there so much right now. I want to let my children miss me for two seconds. I’m excited to surprise them with it at some point, but I’m still mulling over the timing in my head.

“It’s not the end of ‘Peaches’ just yet, but she’s going in the closet for a minute. The album is so concise, and I didn’t want to add songs just for the sake of it. The new tracks are short, but they really count.”

Last month, Grande’s record label, Republic, confirmed that she wouldn’t be touring this year. “There are no plans for a tour next year,” the label said. “But Ariana remains deeply appreciative of her fans and all their continued love, support, and excitement.”

That statement supported Grande’s previous comments about her plans to scale back her pop career in November. “I’m always going to make music, I’m always going to go on stage, I’m always going to do pop stuff, I pinky promise,” she said. “But I don’t think [I’ll be] doing it at the rate I’ve been doing for the past ten years.”

Wicked Part One—where Grande portrays Glinda The Good—premiered in Australian cinemas in November. The film also stars Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, and Peter Dinklage.
