The race is on.

More Amy Shark More Amy Shark

After holding out Kendrick LamarEd Sheeran is now gunning for eight straight weeks atop the ARIA Albums chart this week, but the UK superstar will have his work cut out for him as Amy Shark and Allday are closing in.

According to midweek figures, Shark's Night Thinker EP and Allday's second LP, Speeding, are both set to debut in the top three of the chart, ensuring that Sheeran's ÷ (Divide) is no certainty to hang on to the #1 spot.

While Allday's debut album, Startup Cult, peaked at #3 back in 2014, Shark's double platinum hit song, Adore, was unlucky not to reach #1 on the Singles chart, as Sheeran's Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill held it to #3 this past February.

Other albums debuting on the chart this week include the Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 soundtrack (top ten), Incubus8Brad Paisley's Love & War and While She SleepsYou Are We (all top 20), as well as Xavier Rudd's Live In The NetherlandsBad//DreemsGutful (both top 30) and Zac Brown Band's Greatest Hits So Far... (top 50).

Expect to also see Aussie favourite Tash Sultana return to the top ten with her 2016 debut LP, Notion.

Back over on the Singles chart, Sheeran is also the favourite to hold onto #1 with Shape Of You which reclaimed top spot last week following a 13-week streak.

Shawn Mendes is the only artist looking to have a debuting track land in the top ten with There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back, while other new songs primed for top 40 finishes include Lana Del Ray's Lust For Life featuring The Weeknd, Tash Sultana's Murder To The Mind and Kaleo's Way Down We Go.
